A woman has died after falling from an apartment in the Wellawatta police domain, police said.
The deceased was a 49-year-old resident of Colombo 6 area.
The deceased woman is a married mother of one child, and her husband had gone to Jaffna for personal business the previous day.
On the day of the incident, when her son was studying at home, it was revealed in the investigation that she took a chair from the house and went to the 8th floor of the building and jumped from it.
It has also been revealed that the deceased woman was receiving treatment for a mental illness.
The body has been deposited in the Kalubowila Hospital, and the Wellawatta Police are conducting further investigations.
