The All Ceylon Port Public Employees’ Union says that it will engage in professional action from the coming week in protest against the non-increase in wages.
The salary increase for the port workers through a collective agreement was suspended according to the decision of the cabinet which met on October 23, and accordingly, the problem of increasing the salary for the port workers has now arisen.
It is reported that Mr. Niroshan Gorakanage, General Secretary of the All Ceylon Port Public Employees’ Union, said that yesterday (29th) the President of the All Ceylon Port Public Employees’ Union met and held discussions, but the negotiations failed.
