President Ranil Wickramasinghe went to the historic Kataragama shrine yesterday afternoon (03) and engaged in religious rites.
The President visited Kiriwehera vihara dean Reverend Kobawaka Dhamminda Nayaka Thero and inquired about his well-being and engaged in a short conversation.
The President took part in the religious ceremonies and took blessings.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe also placed the casket on Kandula Hasti Rajaya, starting the Perahara yesterday, which was the last day of the Kataragama annual Esala Maha Perahara.
After that, the President, who attended the final procession, also went to Kataragama Saman Maha Devalaya and took blessings.
The President also did not forget to engage in a friendly conversation with the devotees who had come to the shrine for the Kataragama annual Esala Maha Perahara festival.
