Recently, the finance committee approved the proposal to give vouchers to the farmers to buy fertilizer this year. Accordingly, it is reported that the Minister of Agriculture, Mahinda Amaraweera, said that this proposal will be submitted for cabinet approval today (08).
The minister has further mentioned that the fertilizer voucher system is in operation at the rate of 20,000 rupees per hectare in one season and farmers can buy fertilizer from the public sector or the private sector without any hindrance during the growing season.
