Currently, instead of providing relief to the people, the government is bringing in various double-edged, ignorant decrees and coercive laws. Ministers as well as high government officials are responsible for it.
They are so stupid ministers as well as government officials that they torture the public by introducing various methods because they have no knowledge about the working class of the country. The condition of the public is irrelevant to many people who lied to the ignorant and innocent people and tricked them into becoming members of the parliament.
The situation of Sri Lankans who cannot even go home is so serious that people have no jobs. Existing jobs are also disappearing. A large number of garment factories that benefited lakhs of people have been destroyed and thousands of innocent people have lost their jobs. Also, even the workers are unable to earn a daily wage, and more than 10 lakh people have lost their jobs in the fields of mason, carpentry etc.
Also, due to the collapse of the economy, people do not have money to buy or repair mobile phones. Also, not all homes have smart phones. No computers or internet facilities. But the ministers who make these decisions think that all the facilities available to them are available to all sections of the people.
It can be seen from their behavior that the highly paid civil servants as well as the Members of Parliament do not understand the real situation of the common people and they do not have any kind of knowledge about the common society of Sri Lanka. They think of the people of the country as their servants. But the common people have not realized that they have been appointed for the convenience of the people.
It was the civil servants of this country who had to make requests and appeals about the relief. That is because those people did not have internet, computers or smart phones. The regional registrars decided to employ a separate team of officers in the regional registrar’s offices to file appeals because the knowledge of computer science was not available in our country.
In such a country, the rulers of the Ministry of Finance, Inland Revenue Department, etc., who are known as high bloodlines, ignorant of society, have made it mandatory for everyone above 18 years of age to prepare tax sacks. It is also said that all those who do not do so will be prosecuted and fined 50000 rupees.
If there were no tax-paying people in the country, salaries would not be paid to government employees and pensioners as well as to ministers. But due to the inefficiency of the government employees and the government, the amount of tax lost to the country in the year 2023 is 943 billion.
Officials of the Inland Revenue Department have revealed that 767 billion rupees cannot be recovered from that amount due to various reasons, and the recoverable amount is 175 billion rupees.
Meanwhile, under the existing law, it has been revealed that tax evaders can remain unpaid for a period of 15 years. But the income tax department of the country is responsible for having to pay compensation to the millions of people in the country.
However, they have also announced that people who do not prepare tax files will be fined. It is the government’s responsibility to provide the necessary facilities for the public to register them before they are fined. Claiming that they will be fined for not doing so is a foolish statement.
However, the people of the country pay taxes to the government even from dal and sugar. The foolish rulers of this country, who lost millions of tax money of the people, played with the tax money of the people of the country. Even now, it is appropriate to make them as a tax file, but millions of people will be inconvenienced for a long time due to the lack of internet facilities, smart phones, etc.
