It is reported that the island-wide strike has already started today (15) based on many issues such as the new tax revision implemented by the government and the increase in electricity tariffs.
It is reported that the strike is going on in every government hospital in the island and all the schools in the island as well as the port workers are on strike.
Despite the railway strike, only one office train had started traveling from Galle to Colombo Fort this morning and it is reported that army and police officers had been deployed to protect the train.
