It is reported that due to the turbulent nature of the South East Bay of Bengal sea area, an increase in rainfall can be expected in the island and the North East Monsoon weather condition is gradually establishing over the island.
Accordingly, the Department of Meteorology has stated that rain or thundershowers may occur from time to time in North, East, South, North Central and Uva provinces.
Also, in the rest of the provinces of the island after 1.00 pm there may be rains or thunderstorms, and in some places in Eastern, Central, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts, mm. It is also reported that there may be heavy rains of around 100.
Accordingly, the Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
