It is reported that the All Ceylon Private Bus Owners’ Association has stated that if compensation is given to the ministers whose houses were damaged during the struggle, then the buses that were burnt on May 9 should also be compensated.
Mr. Gemunu Wijeratne, Chairman of All Ceylon Private Bus Owners Association,
“Nearly 50 private buses were completely destroyed. Another 50 buses were partially destroyed. The amount received from the insurance is not enough. They have taken steps to get compensation to the Ministers, but to a certain extent, our bus owners have not received this. 500 million for 50 buses out of 10 million. It is not a big amount.”
