It is reported that two suspects were arrested by the Police Special Task Force along with a consignment of beedicol which was illegally brought to Sri Lanka without paying duty by sea route.
It is said that the arrest was made after a raid in the swampy area behind a house located in the Talahena, Negombo area of the Dungalpitiya police domain.
531 kg 800 kg of bidi leaves used for beedi production have been found and in addition 90 kg of basmati rice, a boat and a 40 horsepower motor boat engine have been taken into the custody of the police special forces officers.
The suspects are two persons aged 29 years and 44 years residing in Medapitiwana, Negombo and Dungalpitiya, Talahena areas and they have been handed over to Dungalpitiya Police Station for further investigation.
