It is reported that two people have been electrocuted and three have been admitted to Passara District Hospital during an annual Radham procession at a temple in Namunukula area.
The procession which started yesterday afternoon (23) continued until the morning of today (24) and the police said that while the Radham cart which participated in the perahera was being taken to the temple, the upper part of the cart was electrocuted when it collided with the high voltage power line.
30-year-old and 42-year-old residents of the same area have died in the incident.
Namunukula Police are conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
