It is reported that the Water Supply and Water Transport Board has requested the people to use water sparingly due to the prevailing dry weather.
The severe drought in several provinces of the island has also affected the northern region and so far 72,357 people belonging to 22,666 families in the north have been affected.
The disaster management officials have stated that drinking water is being supplied to the people in the provinces where it is not possible to supply drinking water through bowsers and the situation has arisen where water cannot be found for that supply as well.
