Economic center sources say that vegetable prices have increased by 30% due to the destruction of many vegetable plantations due to the rain falling in many parts of the island.
Due to the severe damage to bean, cabbage and tomato crops due to the rainy conditions, the stock of those vegetables received by the economic centers has been greatly reduced.
It is reported that the wholesale price of a kilo of beans has increased to between 400 and 420 rupees, the price of a kilo of fish and chili has increased to between 500 and 550 rupees and the price of a kilo of green chili has increased to between 400 and 500 rupees.
Economic center officials say that vegetable prices may increase further due to further reduction in the supply of vegetables.
