There is a news of 19-year-old Vihagana Ariyasinghe, who died due to sudden brain death while she was studying advanced level at Kurunegala Maliadeva Girls’ College, and her body parts were transplanted to critically ill patients to save her life.
It is special that the heart and lungs taken from her were transplanted to an anesthesiologist who was in a critical condition due to heart and lung failure.
In addition, her two kidneys have been successfully transplanted to two critically ill patients, and her liver and eye membranes have been given to three other people.
Thus, from 5 organ parts taken from Vihagana’s body, 7 people have been able to live healthy for a long time.
All of Vihagana’s transplanted patients are in good health at the moment. However, Vihagana has passed away with a sigh of relief, leaving the hope of a healthy life for a few others.
