It is reported that the Ceylon Electricity Board stated that the release of water from Samanala Lake reservoir to Udawalawa reservoir has started.
Cabinet approval was received for this yesterday (07).
Before the Cabinet meeting, a discussion was held under the chairmanship of President’s Chief of Staff and Presidential Adviser Mr. Sagala Ratnayake and Minister of Power and Energy Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera was also present.
In this discussion, there was a discussion about the release of water from Samanala Lake Reservoir for agricultural purposes and the preparation of a joint program for continuous electricity supply.
