It is reported that a cache of hand grenades, firearms and ammunition hidden in a public cemetery in Maimbula area has been found after questioning Ganemulla Sanjeeva, who is considered to be an underworld leader who is detained by the Weeragula Police under detention orders.
The police have recovered 1 micro type pistol, 1 revolver, 2 foreign made live grenades and 43 bullets.
Based on the information revealed by questioning Mr. Ganemulla Sanjeeva, a team of officers of the Western North Crime Division found a T-56 automatic firearm and a stock of live ammunition hidden under a culvert in Kaduwela area about two weeks ago.
It is reported that several special police teams are continuing to interrogate Ganemulla Sanjeeva.
