It is reported that Mr. NK Jayawardena, Chairman of the All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association, said that even if the price of gas is reduced, there will be no relief for their products, and there will be no reduction in the prices of bakery products.
Also, there are less than 25% of bakeries that produce food using gas, and all the remaining bakeries use diesel, firewood and electricity, as a result of which there is no possibility of reducing the prices of bakery products as a whole. The chairman of the All Ceylon Bakeries Association has further stated that although some parties have claimed that the prices of the products have been increased, his association has never increased the prices of food.
