Gampola Namalwila paddy field or this paddy field which is a catchment area of the Mahaweli river is now on the verge of destruction.
The convener of the Gampola Green Association Sameera Chandrasiri points out that there is a large mountain range around this area and the water flowing from it flows through these farm lands and adorns the Mahaweli Ganges.
It is unfortunate that such activities carried out by land grabbers are carried out with the permission of government agencies.
This procedure is being carried out in violation of the Mahaweli Act as well as the Agrarian Services Act.
Mr. Sameera Chandrasiri states that they also looted the court premises as part of their property at one time.
He also pointed out that Minister of State Anuradha Jayaratne and other officials of the Kandy Central Province were also involved in these crimes.
These officials who run the regime of a country should enforce the law and prevent these crimes by preventing such officials from further destroying such valuable lands.
