The Government Information Department has announced that a national children’s short film and film competition has been organized to coincide with the World Children’s Day celebrations on October 1, 2022. Following is the full text of the press release issued by the Director General of Government Information, Mohan Samaranayake.
It is implemented by the Department of Probation and Child Care Services under the auspices of the State Ministry of Women and Child Development, Pre-School and Primary Education, School Infrastructure and Education Services.
The active participation of children is sought with the aim of building a generation of virtuous children and honing the creative ideas of children, safeguarding the rights of Sri Lankan children.
Competitions will be held in two categories as children’s short films and children’s films. The limited section of the short children’s film competition entitled ‘Our World is Through Our Eyes’ is reserved for children representing children’s clubs, government schools, Dhamma school children and the open section is reserved for universities and private candidates.
Under the theme ‘Draw the Unspeakable – Telithudaka Asiriya’, the primary section was 05-06 years old, the post primary section was 07-09 years old, the junior section was 10-12 years old, the senior section was 13-15 years old and the senior secondary. The section is for 16-18 year olds in several sections. Children from government schools, private schools approved by the Ministry of Education, Pirivena Colleges, Children’s Homes and Child Development Centers can participate.
The closing date for short films and drawings is July 25, 2022.
