Presidential candidate Rayapakse was engaged in an emergency at the Kuragala sacred area and instructed officials to expedite the construction work.
Arriving at the Kuragala sacred area this evening (16), he inspected the construction work of the Dagaba, the Buddha statue and the Dharma Hall.
The development work of the Kuragala Temple is being carried out under the leadership and guidance of Ven. Wathurakumbure Dhammaratana Thero, the founder of the Nelligala International Center.
Relevant officials have been instructed to expedite the construction of the Dharma Hall, which can accommodate 2,000 seats and roads around the President’s Sacred Area.
Kuragala Sacred Area is located in the Kaltota Valley, 30 km from Balangoda in the Sabaragamuwa Province.
This Kuragala sacred area has 13 caves where the great Arahants lived and it is a sacred place with a historical heritage.
