A series of meritorious deeds was held today to pay tribute to Mr. Priyantha Kumara Diyawadana who was brutally murdered in Sialkot, Pakistan. The event was organized by the Sri Ravana Lanka National Organization and has been conducted in ten districts of Sri Lanka.
Sri Nissanka Mayadunne, National Organizer of the Sri Ravana Lanka National Organization was also present at the simple ceremony held at the Sri Vajirarama Temple, Ambewila, Pallebedda, Ratnapura.
Venerable Sri Vajiraramadhipathi Retired Principal, Committee Member of the Amarapura Sanghasabha, Panditha Hatangala Dhammawansa Nayaka Thero conducted religious activities and other local monks as well as the people of the area also participated in this charitable activity.
Speaking to the media, Ven. Hatangala Dhammawansa Thera said that barbarism should be eradicated and non-violence should be the basis of life.
Mr. Nissanka Mayadunne also told the media that he did not condone barbarism and that if religious freedom was to be used to the detriment of humankind, the world powers, including the United Nations, should intervene and resolve it. In addition, it called on the United Nations to establish scientifically and technologically recognized sociology and youth and community development strategies around the world to improve human existence.
