The body of a 16-year-old girl has been found by three persons who went missing after swimming in Kumari Falls in the Thummodara area in Hanwella.
The Police Headquarters stated that the body of the girl was found during a joint operation conducted by the Police, the Army and the residents of the area.
The police stated that the victim was a young woman residing in Jaffna.
The other two missing girls are aged 14 and 29 and are residents of Hendala and Jaffna.
Investigations are still underway to find them.
Three youths and five girls were bathing in Kumari Falls yesterday (30) afternoon when the water level rose due to heavy rains.
It is reported that the three girls had been swept away by the floods.
