A group of representatives of the Sri Lanka Seva Mukta Bhata Association joined today (October 12) in the occasion of wearing a poppy flower to the Minister of State for Defense Hon’ble Pramitha Bandara Thennakone.
The team led by Major General Mahinda Ambanpola (Retired), Vice President of Sri Lanka Seva Mukta Bhata Association, met State Minister Thennakone at the State Ministry of Defense in Colombo this morning.
Sri Lanka Seva Mukta Bhata Association annually organizes Poppy Day to commemorate fallen war heroes.
The money collected here is spent on the welfare projects of war heroes and their families.
The General Secretary of Sri Lanka Seva Mukta Bhata Association Lt. Col. Ajith Siambalapitiya, Treasurer Major P.K.C. Shantilal Kankanamge, Major General Ruwan Vanigasuriya, Chairman of the Armed Forces Memorial Committee, Major Chiltus de Silva and Mrs. Chandi Hettiarachchi were present on this occasion.
